Energy Ball Exercise

Author: Unknown

Sit in a comfortable position.

Begin by grounding and centering. The next step is releasing, which means that you
relax your body and allow all your worries, tensions, and anxieties flow out of your body. They pour out like water, down and out through the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet.

When done, place the palms of your hands together. Imagine a ball of white light
between your palms, radiating out from where your hands touch. Make sure you have good visualization of the ball. You should feel a slight tingling sensation, like when you rub your hands together rapidly.

Now pull your hands slowly apart. Imagine that the ball of light is stretching out
between your hands as you separate them. It becomes a beam of light between your palms. Hold this for a few seconds, or longer if you can.

Slowly bring your hand together again, shrinking the beam of light back down to a
ball. Then shrink the ball until it disappears altogether.

Ground out the excess energy.

Practice this until you get good at it, then go on to part two.

Part Two

Begin exactly as you did in the first part. Continue until you reach the point where you have created a beam of energy between your two hands.

Imagine that the beam grows and expands to form a large ball of light between your hands. Hold that image for as long as you can.

Slowly bring your hands together, seeing the ball shrink between them, growing
smaller and smaller until by the time your hands touch the ball has disappeared.

Ground out the excess energy.

Practice this until you are good at it then continue to part three.

Part Three

Begin this exercise like the first part, except when you open your hands, instead of a
beam of white light, imagine a rainbow stretched between your hands.

Once you master this, and can hold the image clearly in your mind begin
experimenting. Make the beam a single color. Go through the colors one at a time: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Take notes on how each one effects the energy in your hands.

When done shrink the beam down into a ball, then disperse the ball as usual.

Ground out the excess energy.

Phaedra's Notes:

These three exercises aren’t meant to replace each other, but to be done together. As you master each one you will move on to the next until you do all three together. Always ground at the beginning and end of the exercises, but not in between.

I don't know who wrote this exercise, but it's one of the first that I was given by my first teacher. She had me work on this for quite a while, until doing it became easy and instinctive.

This exercise is great to not only let you learn to feel energy and sense it, but also to help you learn to control it. You can do it as a solitary or in a group. In a group setting it helps if you pass the ball around and each person can add energy to it, helping the group to bond together and to learn how each person controls and directs energy.

I also find that this is a very soothing meditation. It never hurts to brush up on energy work and once you are proficient at it, it can help to calm you down after a rough day. Just be sure to always ground thoroughly afterward.
