Purify
Light the candle for the Androgyne and say:
“Divine Androgyne, eldest and nameless,
You are male and female simultaneously
The in-between, neutral, neither-nor
You transform transgression into transcendence
Infinite, Essential, Eternal
Source of all, the force behind form
You embody the value of duality
Nevertheless, you are One
Primeval, first, before the birth of consciousness
Teach us your divine dance of balance
I pray you, bless and uphold our rite.”
Light the white candle and say:
“Guardians of the East,
Airy Sylphs of the rising dawn
Join our Circle tonight!
I invoke and call thee –
Move your unseen essence over and through us .
As I have breath, we are kith and kin;
By sky, wind, and storm
Hail and Welcome!”
Sprinke the Eastern candle with salt-water and say:
"With salt and water I purify the East."
Light the red candle and say:
“Guardians of the South,
Burning Draeconi of the noontide blast
Join our Circle tonight!
I invoke and call thee –
Move your fiery essence over and through us.
As I have spirit, we are kith and kin;
By fire, lightening, and stars
Hail and Welcome!”
Sprinke the Southern candle with salt-water and say:
"With salt and water I purify the South."
Light the blue candle and say:
“Guardians of the West,
Watery Naiads of the deep
Join our Circle tonight!
I invoke and call thee –
Move your liquid essence over and through us.
As I have blood, we are kith and kin;
By river, rain, and tide
Hail and Welcome!”
Sprinke the Western candle with salt-water and say:
"With salt and water I purify the West."
Light the green candle and say:
“Guardians of the North,
Green Dryads of woodland groves
Join our Circle tonight!
I invoke and call thee –
Move your earthy essence over and through us.
As I have flesh, we are kith and kin;
By stone, leaf, and tree
Hail and Welcome!”
Sprinke the Northern candle with salt-water and say:
"With salt and water I purify the North."
Pick up your athame and beginning in the East, trace the Circle around the ritual area. See it glowing bright blue all around you. Finish by tracing the Circle over your head and under your feet to make a sphere, then say:
“As above, so below.”
Salute earth and sky with your athame and then say:
“The Circle is cast; it surrounds and supports us
Thus is our sacred space claimed and hallowed.
May the Gods and Kindred bless us
May our worship be true and our magick pure.
Here we stand between the worlds,
Beyond the bounds of time
Where night and day,
Joy and sorrow
Birth and Death
Meet and make one
Our Circle is whole and holy!”
Light the center candle on the altar and say:
“At the center of the Circle
There burns a living flame!
The fire is lit and our ritual has begun
God and Goddess blessings!”
Ring the bell three times.
As you can tell, this blends all the things I've been working with and I try to make a cohesive whole. There are elements in druidry that I really like but I always felt a little bare without casting Circle. That is something that is so ingrained for me and I don't really want to give it up. So, here is my compromise.
I feel very at ease with this Circle casting, it better incorporates the ideas I had in my last one and is a little more 'me' than what I had before. The energy with this feels much gentler, but not less effective. I don't get the overwhelming head rush when I cast Circle with this but I do notice that my visualization is sharper.
The biggest change would be adding a section for the Androgyne. It isn't invokeing It, per se, but it is a reminder to try to be balanced and that there is something beyond our ken watching over us. It won't force us to do one thing or another, but it can help to guide us in the direction that is best for us.
All in all I think it is a definite step in the right direction for me. With both the Morrighan and Inari having input I feel that this is better balanced that what I was doing before.
