Hecate Full Moon Ritual for Preventing Obstacles

Items needed: one red candle, two black candles, one white candle, an oil of choice, the Sun card, the Moon card, and the Tower card.

Purify and cast Circle.

__________________ invoke Goddess with:

"Lady of the full moon light, Goddess both dark and bright, we know that by whatever names we call Thee - __________________ - that You hear us. Join us in our rite this evening as we work to block actions that will result in future obstacles. Help us work or wills on this night at the height of Your power. Hear our desire for You to descend to our Circle tonight, hail and welcome!"

__________________ invoke God with:

"Horned Lord of the horned moon, God of the domains of life and death, we know that by whatever names we call Thee - __________________ - that You hear us. Join us in our ritual as we work to oppose that which will cause us future problems. Help us work our will this night as the Mother reflects Your light. Hear our desire for You to descend to our Circle tonight, hail and welcome!"

__________________ light the three candles and say:

"Three Candles I do Light
In Honor of Thee, O Goddess this sacred Night
White for the Maiden pure as Snow
Red for the Mother full within, and
Black for the Crone, old and wise."

"May the blessings of the Mother Goddess be upon us. May She grant us a compassionate heart and fire us with passion. May She teach us the joys of creation and the joys that accompany it. Tonight we honor the power of our birth, we honor our mothers. May others see the Mother Goddess within us through our warmth, in our ability to nurture and heal, and in the compassion that we share with others. Through us runs the love of the God and Goddess."

"We call upon She who unveils all mysteries!
Oh Mother of all Creation, Goddess Hecate,
the Three and the One.
Goddess of fertility and fullness.
Oh wise one, filled with Luna's secrets
whose torches of the Moon light the darkened sky.
Full-orbed Hecate, Mistress of enchantments,
Queen of Heaven, Earth and the Underworld,
Protectress of all Witches,
Come now unto us,
Fill us with Your Presence
Oh Gracious Queen of all Witches as we attend this Rite."

Everyone imagine or see the Full Moon and envision a haze descending from the moon into you. Feel Her slowly envelope you, starting at the top of your head and slowly moving down to your feet. Feel this vibrating energy of the Goddess Hecate fill your very being. When Her energies reach your feet, know that you are walking as Hecate, as She is you and you are She.

With an oil of choice, beginning in the West, each person should anoint their brow and heart chakra. After doing so, say:

"Goddess, grant us a clear heart and mind for the magick we will perform tonight. Lend us your blessings, allow our eyes to see through the darkness to the heart of our problem."

__________________ light the black candle (to remove negativity) and say:

"Draconis! Draconis! Draconis! Hear our call, three times we hail you, listen all! This candle flame is like your fire, help us in our rite and lend your power to us. Come to us and hear our words, help us to achieve our goals. With our humblest thanks we welcome thee! Draconis! Draconis! Draconis!"

_____________________ place the Moon card on the central altar and say:

"XXXXXX, you are like this card, preferring to keep others in the dark so you can benefit from their lack of light. But this card also warns us of you: false friend and creator of false prophecies. With the help of Hecate, goddess of the Moon and Justice, we say 'no' to your ever coming to work at our pharmacy. As we will, so mote it be!"

___________________ place the Tower card over the Moon card so that it covers the Moon completely. Then say:

"Like the Tower you bring destruction that we can see coming. We know that you are only trying to find a place to fit in, but your methods are like this card; too much, too soon and without forethought to the havoc you will wreak. With the help of Hecate, goddess of crossroads, we say 'no' to your coming to work at our pharmacy. As we will, so mote it be!"

___________________ turn the Moon and Tower cards over so the back shows then cover both of them with the Sun card. Then say:

"XXXXXX, we use this card as a harmonizing factor. May the sun shine brightly upon all of us, granting each of us a warm and friendly workplace. Use the power of the sun to melt away the problems that you have created or walked into, using its healing find a place where you can work and be happy. Allow us the same, by our will do not come to work in our pharmacy… there are better stores for you elsewhere. As we will, so mote it be!"

"Hecate, Nemesis, Goddess whose sickle moon can cut to kill or cure, we offer our never ending thanks for your help in this rite. In this time of Winter we needed your guidance and support, we know that the change you bring can be harsh or temperate, we pray that this rite is for the good of all involved."

Everyone take a few moments to meditate on XXXXXX finding a pharmacy where she will be happy, see the Sun card illuminating another pharmacy where XXXXXX will be better off.

Phaedra's Notes:

XXXXXX is replacing the name of person that was in this to protect the nasty... er... innocent. Also the 'preventing obstacle' actually means 'to prevent bad things at our pharmacy'.

This was Maia and I flying solo since it really only concerned us personally. When we did the later part (the important part in my eyes) I saw a large image of Hecate with black bat wings standing guard at the front of our store. She was holding a flaming sword in a defensive position across Her body and was rebuffing the person we are hoping isn't coming to our store.

Hecate was chosen as the Deity for this ritual because Inari doesn't really hold dominion in the area, nor does Lucifer. Mars seemed a little harsh and finally, I chose Her because I know Maia works well with her. Also, it just felt right and since I was being pulled in that direction I just went with it. Inari isn't a particularly jealous Goddess and I still call on Her at the beginning of every ritual.

Tarot was chosen to help us in this endeavor solely based on the success we had with the Justice FM esbat. We had all felt that it had a very strong positive response and we were hoping for another spell where we would see results quickly. I felt that there were enough cards that mirrored our current situation that it would correlate well.

Strange happenings during this ritual: the Eastern candle lit easily, but we had to work for a while at getting South lit. Once we realized that we would be held up for a bit Maia turned to the East and said half-jokingly: "Hold up the Circle for us, will you Chichiri?" From that point on the East candle had a very high and bright flame. South, West and North had almost no candle flame to speak of. Then, I had several discs of witchy music in my cd player in the living room. It was on but turned very low so it wouldn't disturb us while in ritual. When we invoked Hecate the song dedicated to Her began and we could suddenly hear it over ritual. Once that song was over, the music faded away and we didn't hear any other tracks. Finally, when ritual was over and we turned the light back on everything was fine until we started talking about what we had felt and seen during ritual. Then the light started dimming itself and turning on and off until my husband came in and touched it. Freaky, huh?

As it turned out we were doing ourselves a huge favor by not wanting this person at our workplace. Our main reasons were because Maia and I are both from ethnic backgrounds and this woman would use constant racial slurs... which really annoyed the daylights out of us. She was rude and often abrasive and brash with customers as well as employees, we just couldn't see the pharmacy running well with her there. Hence the ritual. We found out several months later that this woman and her husband were brought up on charges by the company we worked for. She chose not to stay at our pharmacy but went to another one and she was stealing controlled drugs. She was also taking prescriptions that were supposed to be returned to stock, giving them to her husband who would 'return' them for cash at a different CVS. Bad juju. So, in the end we saved ourselves the huge headache of the inquisition that would have been brought down on our heads to see who knew about the thefts and if any of us were in on it.
