Change of Luck Candle Magic

Author: Unknown

Items needed: a candle to represent yourself (any color), a candle to represent sudden change (pick a color that represents this to you), a silver or light gray candle to represent the neutralization of bad luck, a black candle to represent the bad luck, and a magenta candle to speed the process, and a maneki neko (Japanese lucky cat) image.

Anoint the candle with a purification or blessing oil. The black candle should be
anointed from end to wick, all the other candles should be anointed wick to end. Draw any symbols that you feel appropriate on the candles.

Purify and cast Circle.

Invoke God and Goddess.

Light the candle that represents you and say:

“This is me and all that represents me.”

Light the black candle and say:

“This is my bad luck, it leaves me now and I shed no tears at its parting. May the candle flame purify and cleanse it so that it will not return to me.”

Take a moment to visualize a dark cloud or mist rising from your body and entering
the candle. As the candle burns the cloud become white and clear.

Light the gray or silver candle and say:

“With this I neutralize my bad luck and its remnants. I go forward now with a clean slate, I am ready to draw in all that is beneficial for me and I am willing to take the action necessary to make this so. My bad luck dissolves into nothingness, never to return to me.”

Light the sudden change candle and say:

“This represents the changes for the good that are entering my life. I will welcome this change joyfully and with open arms. I realize that change can often be hard and unpredictable but I am ready to face the challenges that this will bring to me.”

Place the maneki neko image below this candle and allow it to soak up the energy of
change and good luck.

Light the magenta candle and say:

“This is the energy needed to speed the change. I am open and ready, time is no barrier. So mote it be.”

Take a moment to envision white or golden light surrounding you, entering you,
filling the spaces the dark mist left behind. Chant:

“I welcome change, I welcome the incoming good!”

Drum, chant, dance, do whatever feels natural to raise energy and allow it to peak
then direct it into the candles.

Meditate on the bad luck leaving you. Try to see if there are any repeating patterns
that you will need to change to keep the bad luck from coming back. Change often means leaving behind old routines and habits.

Have the simple feast and open Circle.

Allow the candles to burn out, make sure that they are somewhere safe and don’t
leave them unattended!

Once the sudden change candle has gone out, keep the maneki neko image with you, it will help to draw beneficial energy toward you.

Certain friends may drop away; this merely indicates that they weren’t good for you.
Be prepared to CHANGE; be willing to accept the changes that are necessary.

Phaedra's Notes:

I have performed this both alone and in a group. It seems to work better when it is a solitary rite, I saw more changes from this when I did it on my own that from group work. On the other hand, when we did it as a group, it wasn't for me it was for two other members of Dragons of the Sacred Circle. Neither one seemed to reap much benefit from it, but that is also my view as an outsider. I know that Gwydion felt that it worked rather well.

I don't specifiy a color for the sudden change candle, mainly because I feel it is important for the person doing (or having the spell done for them) should pick a color that means rapid change to them. I used yellow when I did it, Gwydion chose a deep forest green, and Tom chose a very light blue. Gwydion and I both had satisfactory (in our opinion) results, while Tom said that he felt that his didn't work at all.
