Healing Poppet Spell

First create a poppet and stuff it with healing herbs and cotton. While sewing the
poppet together chant:

"Over, under, threads of fate,
Weave healing into ___________."*

Items needed: Poppet and a blue candle.

Purify and cast Circle.

Invoke Inari with:

"Inari-sama, descend as the healing Mother I pray and aid me in my spell."

Invoke Sukuna-Hikona with:

"Sukuna-Hikona, God of healing and purification, descend I pray and aid me in my spell."

Light the blue candle.

Sprinkle poppet with salt water and say:

"Blessed be thou, creature made by art. By art made, by art changed. Thou art not cloth but flesh and blood and I name thee __________. Thou art s/he, between the worlds and in all worlds. So mote it be."

Hold the poppet, breathe on it, charge it with energy until you can see it 'glowing'. Concentrate energy into the area(s) that are in need of healing, visualize the person health.

Replace the poppet on the altar, concentrate on continuing to send healing energy into the poppet and say:

"I ask Sukuna-Hikona to hear my pleas
for the well being of ____________.
Heal him/her.
S/he is in your hands, O great Kami."

See the person well and happy then say:

"Izanami, inspire my prayers for ____________.
For him/her to be healthy,
both physically and spiritually.
May we know that to love life, we must love ourselves."

Say:

"Goddess of healing fires, Inari,
________ has shown us how to be strong
In the face of fear, focused in the face of pain.
________ is offering him/herself to You,
now help us to help him/her
be healthy and whole.
May it be for the good of all and harm none,
so mote it be!"

Bind the spell and earth the residual power.

Save the poppet until the person is healed then unmake it.

*Insert the name of the person and firmly hold an image of them in your mind.

This is basically an adaptation of Starhawk's poppet spell and I have found it very effective. One of the things I like the most about it is that it really seems to pack a punch with me! I've never had a poppet spell fail and I've never performed one without receiving permission to do so first. Please make sure that you do so!

One small change that I make is when I invoke Inari near the end of the spell I will anoint the poppet with oil in the areas that are to be healed. This seems to speed up the process but it isn't strictly necessary. Also, let the candle burn itself out if possible, if not extinguish it and relight it as soon as possible and keep burning it until it's gone. I normally use the little taper ones that are about four inches high as they burn out pretty quickly.

I just realized that this is a very bare bones of a ritual... it seems like so much more when it is performed. This version still has an old God and Goddess invocation on it, although when I perform it now I use the updated ones. I also tend to rework this ritual and change it around as I see fit. This is one that rarely gets used 'as is' with me. Oh! Before I forget, Sukona-Hikona is a Japanese healer god... that is all that he does is heal the ill. I thought that was a good counterpoint to Inari, who is called upon for healing but that isn't her main domain.
