Perfect Purification Incense

Author: Phaedra

Ingredients:

1 part Benzoin
1 part Copal
1 part Frankincense
15 drops basil oil
5 drops sandalwood oil

In a mortar and pestle blend together the dry ingrediants, starting with the frankincense. Add the others, grinding until they are well mixed but the resins are still 'chunky'. Add the sandalwood oil, followed by the basil.

The benzoin is for inspiraition and adds a woodsy yet mild scent.

The copal is for consecration and it is also a light scent but it is a sweet citrus smell.

Frankincense is for solar energy and can be bitter. Be sure to burn a little of the resin you are planning to use to make sure that it doesn't add a bitter scent that is reminiscent of burnt rubber.

The sandalwood is for sacredness and spirituality and is a classic scent for the East.

Finally is the basil which adds joy to the mixture.

Phaedra's Notes:

My husband swears that while in the jar this blend smells like a dill pickle. I think he's crazy, though!

Anytime I need a little 'pick me up', or I want to really purify an area I use this. It is a very light and easily dispersed scent that most people enjoy. The inspiration for this was from a class I took at a Free Spirit Alliance festival, probably a Beltane. It was a short introduction on making your own incense and this is the blend I came up with. I’ve never had anyone complain about the scent, but then again, they might be afraid to because I'm a mean ole witch. ;)
