Items needed: some salt, water, wine, oil, and a candle.
This should be performed skyclad in a tranquil place.
Use the candle for light, let the room be dark around you.
Scatter the salt in a circle around you, then sprinkle a bit more where you will stand.
With the oil or with a mixture of water and wine anoint each area that you bless.
Say:
"Bless me, Mother, for I am your child.
Blessed be my eyes, that I may see your path.
Blessed be my nose, that I may breathe your essence.
Blessed be my mouth, that I may speak of you.
Blessed be my breast, that I may be faithful in my work.
Blessed be my loins, which bring forth life and pleasure as you have brought forth all creation.
Blessed be my feet, that I may walk in your ways."
Take a few moments to meditate on what you have done, and what your path means to you.
This was the very first rite I ever performed. I was 13 and did it in my parents bathroom right after Midsummer. All I can remember is the wave of power that I felt as I read the words, the candle created crazy patterns of light and shadow as its flickering was reflected by the mirrors. I knew then that this was what I was supposed to believe, that nothing would ever shake me of this new found faith.
I did the blessing as it was orignially written because I was unaware that I was barren at the time. At that age, even if I had known I doubt I would have changed it because I was too new to the Craft and too nervous about mucking something up to change it.
