Items needed: a piece of malachite, pine oil, vetivert oil, a pen or paint to write on the stone, a pouch of yellow fabric, a blue ribbon, a blue candle, some earth from where you live, and a small amount of comfrey.
Cast Circle if you wish.
Light the Goddess candle.
Invoke Inari:
“Fox Goddess of the Mountain,
You who keep us healthy and well fed,
Goddess of fire and magic,
I now complete the sacred words to
Invite you here to my Circle.
Grant me your wisdom
In my worship and in my daily life.
Lovely Inari, hear my dearest wish –
From the heavens to my Circle descend.
Be here now,
Hail and Welcome!”
Pour some rice in the dish and say:
“Inari, accept my offering!”
Invoke the Morrighan:
“Red Queen of Phantoms,
Lady of Sovereignty,
You are the holy Three in One,
I now complete the sacred words to
Invite you here to my Circle.
Grant me your wisdom
In my worship and in my daily life.
The Morrighan, hear my dearest wish –
From the heavens to my Circle descend.
Be here now,
Hail and Welcome.”
Pour some red wine into the dish and say:
“Great Morrighan, accept my sacrifice!”
Light the God candle.
Invoke Lucifer:
“Lord of the Evening Star,
The brightest in the entire firmament,
You are known in both heaven and hell.
I now complete the sacred words to
Invite you here to my Circle.
Grant me your wisdom in my worship and in my daily life.
Lucifer, hear my dearest wish –
From the heavens to my Circle descend.
Be here now,
Hail and Welcome.”
Place the pennies in the offering dish and say:
“Lucifer, accept my sacrifice.”
Say:
“I am here tonight to conjure safe travel for my husband.
Tomorrow he leaves, flying far away from our home
I wish to keep him safe and protected while he is away from me.
Gathered Deities and Kindred Spirits,
Bless this work that I do now
Help me to keep him safe,
And may this be for the good of all with harm to none.”
Place a circle of yellow fabric on the altar. Onto the center of the fabric, sprinkle the
comfrey and say:
“Herb of water, Comfrey,
I charge you now to lend your aid,
Allow my husband to travel safely,
And may his trip be smooth and easy.
May he return to me in the same good health that he leaves.”
Light the blue candle and say:
“May the light of this candle call in only that which is good and beneficial.
May it be a guide for my husband on his way,
Grant him to travel safely and to return safely.
Go safely and return safely.”
Tilt the candle so some of the wax drips onto the herbs in the fabric.
Place the piece of malachite on top of the herbs and wax. Say:
“Malachite, stone of healing and balance,
Grant your protective properties to my husband.
Keep him safe and focused until he can return to me.”
Draw the rune Ehwaz (M) on the stone, then say:
“Ehwaz, Rune of Humanity,
You are also the rune of journeys.
I inscribe you on this stone to combine with it
And become a talisman to keep my husband safe
And to bring him only good luck.
Ehwo ehwo ehwo
Eeehwooo
Ehwu ehwa ehwi ehwe ehwo
Ehwo ehwe ehwi ehwa ehwu
Eeehwooo
Protection and safe travel be his!”
Sprinkle the earth from your home on top of the stone and say:
“You are the earth on which we build our home,
Guide my husband on his way,
As his feet leave you may the bit of earth he keeps with him,
Draw him safely back to us.
Safe journey with a safe return,
That is my wish for the earth to grant.”
Drip some pine oil on the stone, earth, and herbs. Say:
“Pine, you are the sweetest of woods,
Add your purification and protection to this talisman.
Help my husband to safely travel and return to me
Hale, whole, and healthy.”
Drip some vetivert oil into the pouch and say:
“Vetivert, you who can bring love and riches,
I ask you to lend your power and protection to my husband.
His love enriches my soul and life,
Keep him safe and focused until he returns to me.”
Tie the pouch closed with the blue ribbon. Cup your hands over the pouch and charge it with energy.
Say:
“May Michael travel safely and freely
Over land and sea and through the sky.
May nothing hinder his journey.
May he find food, drink and shelter in abundant measure every day.
When he rests, may he sleep deeply and rise refreshed.
If he is ever in need,
May kindly strangers come his aid.
May Michael G_________ return home in good speed,
Having accomplished all his works successfully
And with complete satisfaction.
So mote it be.”
Take the Omen:
“Gift of blessing, gift of destiny,
I have opened myself to my Gods
And the Kindred Spirits of this place
That surrounds and upholds me.
I ask those ancient and wise ones –
May the true sight be in me,
May the true speech be mine.
O Gods and Kindred Spirits,
Give me insight the effectiveness of my ritual!”
Draw one to three rune and decide if favorable or unfavorable results will be the result of the spell.
Say:
“As has been done in the past, so I have done now, and so it will be done in the future. I have once again forged a link in the chain of tradition and the Gods have heard me. Now I go into the world in the secure knowledge that this ritual has pleased my Gods and I go forth with their blessing.”
Raise cakes and say:
“Behold the gift of the God!”
Raise the wine (keep the cakes raised) and say:
“Behold the gift of the Goddess!
Eat and drink;
Be filled with the blessing of the Deities
and in the silent mirror of my soul
behold that thou art divine!
May I never hunger!
May I never thirst!”
Perform the Piacular offering:
“If out of ignorance or faulty memory,
If for any reason I have made offense,
Gathered Deities and Kindred Spirits,
Hear me now!
Accept this offering as recompense
And know my heart and my intent was pure.
Accept this sacrifice!”
(Place the offering in the dish.)
Say:
“I am a Child of the Earth and Starry Heavens,
May the sacred presence remain with me always
I go now in blessings and peace.
My rite has ended.”
Open Circle if you cast it.
(Let the blue candle burn out. Leave the pouch on the altar overnight and give it to Michael before he leaves in the morning.)
I did this in April 2008 when my husband had to fly to GA for a business meeting. He normally doesn't travel and had never been on a plane before. I honestly can't remember if the travel charm was his idea or mine, but at any rate it got done. =) Obviously it's tailored for him, but I think that it would be easily adaptable for other people.
This was the first time using the new, broken down Deity invocations. I had expected more a response from the Morrighan, however I didn't really feel her presence. I don't know if it was because of the new format or because travel protection isn't really her thing. *shrugs* It's a mystery.
For the omen I pulled Dagaz, Wyrd, and Ansuz. I was initially only going to pull one, but I really wanted to get a resounding 'YES, he'll be safe.' While Dagaz does mean success I guess I just wanted it to be very clear. Wyrd is the unknown and the unknowable, and Ansuz relates to Odin. So I took it to mean that my spell would be successful but fate or the gods could still intervene.
As it was, the husband had a safe and uneventful trip.
