Temperence Tarot Spell

Items needed: black candle, blessed water, Temperance card, Fool card, Tower card, and High Priestess card.

________________ light the black candle and say:

“Draconis, draconis, draconis! Hear our call, three times we hail you, listen all! This candle flame is like your fire, help us in our rite and lend us your power. Come to us, hear our words, help us to realize our goals. This black candle drives all any negativity that we might harbor so that we can greet you with pure hearts. With our humblest thanks we welcome thee! Draconis, draconis, draconis!”

________________ pick up the blessed water and say:

“O, thou creature of water, we have purified and sanctified you this night. Now we call upon your special properties to complete this rite. You are now the waters of Temperance, you flow swiftly and surely to help remove all obstacles and smooth the path before us. Help to cleanse us so our work may be for the highest good of all and not done out of selfish reasons.”

Each person should take a small sip of the water; the last person adds a small amount to the libation dish for the dragons.

________________ wet one finger with the blessed water and trace a pentagram on
the central altar, then say:

“The altar is sanctified and blessed for the work we will perform on it tonight. We appeal to the Gods and Goddesses that our ritual will be for the greater good of all involved and will not disrupt any other spells that are in progress or that we have done in the past.”

Phaedra places her significator card down on the altar and anoints it with the water,
saying:

“This card represents me, I have chosen the High Priestess to show what I strive to become as well as showing my desire to grow in psychism and learn the mystery of the divine feminine. It also shows my art and Craft, as a witch and a daughter of the Goddess. As I do will, so mote it be.”

Maia places her card down a cards length away from the HP card, anoints it with the water, and says:

“This card is my significator, it shows my path toward enlightenment, my child-like grace, my ability to overcome obstacles both seen and unseen. It also shows me that my path is my own and I can follow it toward the spiritual or mundane as I choose. As I do will, so mote it be.”

________________ lies the Tower card between the Fool and the High Priestess,
saying:

“This card represents XXXX, her actions have brought her own folly down upon her. The Tower shows personal actions causing personal turmoil, and this is exactly what she has done.”

________________ place the Page of Cups over the Tower and say:

“XXXX, this is what we hope for you, for you to be able to control your emotions and learn to grow. The Page is a child who must learn her place in the world, as you must learn that you must deal with others and not expect all of your whims to answered. Others are different from you; the Page must learn tolerance if she is to be successful. You are the same, learn tolerance and respect.”

________________ anoint the Page of Cups with the blessed water and say:

“While your past will never leave you, the Tower will always be there. Let this blessed water of the Goddess help you to wash away the negativity associated with your actions so that your past can remain there and you are not doomed to repeat it.”

________________ lay the Temperance card across the Priestess, the Fool, and the
Page; then anoint the Temperance card with the water. Say:

“I mark you with your own waters, deep and still and blessed. As you cover our significators allow your perfectly poured waters to wash away the negativity generated by XXXX’s actions. Allow this to clear the way so that she can find where she belongs, and if it at another store allow her path to that end to be clear and temperate. We simply wish for our working environment to go back to its peacefulness. Temperance, bring your namesake to us!”

Each person takes another small sip of the water, allowing it to instill Temperance’s
tranquillity within us. Say together:

“Your waters are a part of us, we will do our best to work with you so that we can return to a work space that is filled with harmony.”

Take a moment to meditate on what this might mean. When done clap your hands
three times to release the spell.

“We have sent our will out into the Universe to manifest as the divine and the dragons feel is best. We have worked with pure intentions for the higher good of all and expect nothing in return. So mote it be.”

________________ bless the chalice with:

“Temperance, Goddess of the Waters, we offer this wine in Your honor,
As we drink it, fill us with the nectar of Your love.”

________________ bless the cakes with:

“Horned Lord of Balance, we offer these cakes in Your honor,
As we eat them, fill us with the power of Your spirit.”

Eat simple feast and open Circle.

Phaedra's Notes:

Maia and I chose to do this just after our FM and Ostara rituals in 2003 to help us clear the air, so to speak, at our work place. We can be rambunctious at work but we are always very good about getting our job done first. Once day we were discussing how we were progressing on the work of our various stories (we both write fan fiction) and the pharmacist on duty started screaming at the top of her lungs: "Stop it, stop it, stop it! You have to shut up! I can't take it! Shut up!"

Needless to say we were both a little shocked and rather hurt by the outburst. Up until this point NOTHING had been said to us so we were both totally unaware that our general topics of discussion bothered her so much. She then went on to scream about the fact that we watch 'unnatural television', that we were weird, and that she couldn't stand it - quote - it was too much for her to have to put up with.

Being quick to temper and rather vindictive we both looked at each other, gave a terse nod, and silently agreed to settle things. After a couple of weeks going to work with this woman became intolerable as Maia and I weren't allowed to talk to each other at all and on top of it all the pharmacist in question wanted us to chit-chat with her about our personal lives. Even though she can't stand what we do in our off time. Hmmm, what's a witch to do?

In order to help foster some sort of harmony and make things at least tolerable for us, we did this ritual. As soon as I was done writing it I no longer felt anything towards XXXX (whose name has been x'd out to protect the guilty ;0P ) and have been able to work with her without wanting to shoot either her or myself. Maia also seems calmer at work after we performed this. The most recent turn of events is that we might be getting our old pharmacist back and XXXX might be going to another store. I guess it worked.
