The Sun is the antithesis of its predecessor, The Moon. In this Tarot card night has passed, it is noon on a glorious summer day.

This is the happiest card in the deck. It is full of joy and optimism, everything is right with the world. We are as innocent children playing in the fields without care.

The Sun brings success, well-being and happiness in all spheres - material, emotional, spiritual - wherever our desires lay. We cannot know what tomorrow will bring but for today let us rejoice in the Now.

When this card appears in a Tarot spread it indicates success, joy and happiness. Obstacles will be overcome, goals achieved. Happiness abounds.

When badly aspected, it can indicate a stagnation through over-indulgence, too much of a good thing. Yes, let's celebrate and enjoy what we have - but we must then move on to grow still further.

Dean's fate as the Sun was sealed when the bank girl in 'Nightshifter' turned to Sam and gushed: "It's like staring at the sun!" Sam rolled his eyes and grimaced... he's probably been hearing similar lines about Dean all his life.

Plus, I think that in many ways Dean is still very innocent and childlike. Even though he was forced to grow up too fast and be father, mother, and brother to young Sam; there is something about Dean that has remained untouched. He certainly has loads of charisma and boyish good looks that makes women swoon and puts men on edge.

The crew of Supernatural says that the lens flare that almost forms a halo around Dean in the upper picture was just an accident. I find that hard to believe, it was so perfect for the shot and the character.

I also like the idea of Dean as the Sun because in many mythologies the Sun is pulled across the sky by a chariot... and in this deck the Chariot is the Impala - Dean's car. Nice symmetry, huh?
