H.R. Giger Tarot

Yet another deck that is major Arcana only. I think part of my usage problem with this deck (in that I don't use them) is that they were created to convey the messages of Baphomet, a God that I have no real link to. As much as this may get me into trouble... I don't really think about finding out what Baphomet has to tell me. Oh, if you don't like sexaul cards, don't buy these. There is nudity as well as very blatant sexual suggestion in the cards. Y'know, I just realized another reason I'm not so fond of the cards... there is no color to them. They are all grey and black and white with a navy border. I like my cards to have vibrancy and lushness to them and these leave me feeling a bit cold because they are so clinical and aniseptic.

My husband learned about these cards long before I did, but it was actually one of our friends that prompted me to buy it. Joe, who is a dedicated solitary practitioner, is a huge fan of Giger's work. So, I bought this deck out of curiosity; partially to see it, partially to ascertain if it would make a good gift for Joe. The deck is only the major Arcana and the cards are slightly oversized so it makes it hard to use them. However, it comes with several extra features like an illustrated book and a mat for card laying. 22 of Gigers paintings are reproduced for the cards, each one interpreted by the philosopher-magician Akron. This deck isn't really my cup of tea, but Joe didn't want it either. The cards themselves don't really 'grab' me, but I also don't choose to work with them very often. Mainly they sit in their box, I haven't even made a pouch for them.
